Due to logistics and the popularity of the 175 mile ride option, instead of a two day option to complete the whole route, we are offering a 105-mile option from Dubuque to Beloit, where participants can hop on a motorcoach to catch a ride back to the finisher party in Kenosha. If you are worried about being able to finish the whole border to border route, sign up for the shorter option. If you end up getting into Beloit and want to keep riding to Kenosha, you can. If your legs are cooked, no problem. Have a leisurely lunch at the The Rock Bar & Grill and then grab the bus back to Kenosha.
Wondering if you should sign up for the 175-mile or 105-mile option? We have some thoughts below based on past rides. Of the 800 people who lined up at the start in Dubuque last August, all but eight made it to the finish under their own power. That is certainly a testimony to their grit and fitness, but there is more to it than that. It is a RIDE not a race If you ride at a comfortable pace in a group and take turns at the front, you will have a much easier time finishing with some gas in the tank. Do not push yourself outside your comfort zone. This ride is long and difficult, but your pace should allow you to have a smile on your face and hold a conversation with the person riding next to you. It gets easier as you go The hardest part of the Ride Across Wisconsin is the first 100 miles. The course was designed so that riders could complete all of the big climbs when they are most fresh. After Beloit, the climbs are all very gradual, and the majority of the distance from Lake Geneva to Kenosha is downhill or flat. Because we give you a map and GPS coordinates, and the route is also extremely well marked, you won’t get lost or have to worry about where the next turn might be or when you will get to a rest stop. There will be plenty of top mechanics riding the route in support vehicles so you will never have to wait long for help should you need it. We ask that riders bring a tube, pump and multi-tool along, but we have you covered for any roadside repairs regardless. Train, train, train Whether you opt to Ride Across Wisconsin all the way to Kenosha or stop in Beloit, your pre-RAW training is the is key to a successful day.
