Local Businesses and Elite Athletes Raise Funds for Better Bicycling in Wisconsin
Saris Cycling Group, makers of Bones Racks and CycleOps trainers, welcome Michael and Dede Barry at a fundraising event for the Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin, October 28th. Michael Barry is a 2-time Canadian Olympian, member of the Discovery Channel Professional Cycling Team, and has ridden for the United States Postal Service Cycling Team and Saturn Pro Cycling Teams. Dede Barry was born in Milwaukee, and has won two gold medals at the Pan American Games, two World Championship medals, six National Championship titles, and a Silver Olympic medal in Athens.
Were very excited to have Michael and Dede coming to town for the event, said Dar Ward, Executive Director of the Bicycle Federation. Last year Saris put on a fantastic party with over 300 people in attendance and we expect this years event to be even bigger with even more spectacular auction items available for bid. This event shows how industry, athletes, and advocates can join together to work for positive change and have a good time doing it.
The event will include food, drink, music, a silent auction, a raffle, and the good company of hundreds of avid cyclists. Proceeds will go to make Wisconsin a better place to bicycle. Auction items from dozens of businesses will be available for bid, including a custom-built bicycle frame by Waterford Precision Cycles and various products from businesses including Planet Bike, Trek Corporation, and Pacific Cycle. The event will be held Friday, October 28, 2005, 6-9:30pm at the Saris Cycling Group Facility, 5253 Verona Road in Madison. The Master of Ceremonies will be Randol White of Madison's NBC 15 TV and the Sean Michael Dargan Band will perform. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased in advance on-line at www.bfw.org or by calling 608-251-4456. Tickets will also be for sale the day of the event at the door. Your ticket enters you in a drawing for a Trek Travel Trip for two.

Our mission, to make Wisconsin a better place to bicycle, embraces the basic vision behind the organization; that bicycling is a viable, healthy, and environmentally sustainable means of transportation, recreation, and sport. We provide bicyclists of all ages with information on recreational rides, safety tips, and commuting skills while educating decision makers about the importance of bicycling to our communities. Your participation in this fund raising event helps us to accomplish these goals.
