Sunday, June 6th
7 a.m.-3 p.m., United Performing Arts Fund's 30th Annual Ride for the Arts
We had a great time at UPAF's Ride for the Arts, sponsored by Miller Lite, provides financial support to 34 beneficiary groups. One of the nation's largest one-day recreational bike rides, the Ride offers a 5-, 12-, 25-, 65- and 75-mile bike routes. All routes start and finish at the Summerfest Grounds, 200 North Harbor Drive.
Tuesday, June 8th
7:30 - 8:30 a.m., Ride to Work with Mayor Barrett & Press Conference
A dedicated group rode in the rain from 51st & Washington Blvd. to work with Mayor Barrett. A press conference followed at Zeidler Municipal Building, 841 N. Broadway. Read about it in this Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article by Tom Held.
Wednesday, June 9th
5-7 p.m., Bike Mechanics Training Program Open House
The Bike Fed, in cooperation with the Milwaukee Workforce Investment Board, runs Valid Bike Shop, a bike-mechanic training program for students at North Division High School, 1011 W. Center St. (enter on 10th and Clarke). We had an awards ceremony for student mechanics, tours of the space, and a show-and-tell of the shop's cargo bike welding project.
