Changes to Madison's BTWW
There are some changes in Madison's Bike to Work Week since 2004.
The Bike Fed will no longer be registering Worksite Coordinators or providing
"goodie bags" to registrants. We hope that outstanding bike commuters
will continue to mentor first-timers at the workplaces, but Bike Fed can
no longer afford the labor costs involved in directly facilitating that
relationship. And we've decided to use the limited sponsor resources that
we have to provide "goodie bags" to encourage kids to Bike to School (after
all, a free Clif bar means a lot more to a little kid than it does to
an adult).
We will continue to supply Bike to Work Week posters and bike commuting
tip sheets to anyone who would like to stop by our offices at 106 E. Doty
#400 in Madison and we hope that you will use those materials to encourage
your coworkers. As always, our website provides additional resources on
bike commuting that you are free to download, print, and distribute.
And there's still an incentive to register for Bike to Work Week... when
you register you gain free admittance to the Bike to Work Week Final Fiesta... which
includes free food, drink, music, and socializing with other bike commuters.
And we've retained the worksite challenge competition as still another incentive to get your coworkers
to register to Bike to Work.
We've also revamped the activities this year... changed the schedule around... taken
old things away and added new things... all this in an effort to raise bike
commuting awareness, reach new target groups, make the event easier to
export to other parts of the state, keep costs down, and make the event
new again for those of you who have been participating for years.
If you are one of those who has participated for years, we thank you
for your support. We hope that the changes will improve the event and
the Bike Fed's ability to continue producing it. Thanks again and... don't
forget to register to Bike to Work! See you at the Final Fiesta!
