The Wisconsin Bike Fed is happy to have developed a partnership with La Crosse City Vision Foundation, Explore La Crosse, Downtown Mainstreet Inc, and the City of La Crosse to roll out Open Streets La Crosse on Sunday, September 3rd from 12:00-4:00 pm. Open Streets La Crosse will add another element of excitement to the La Crosse Labor Bicycle Festival, a great weekend packed with free bike rides for every interest and ability.
Open Streets La Crosse will take place Sunday afternoon on downtown streets between Cameron Park and Burns Park. The event will feature car-free space to bike, stroll and play in the streets. Yard games, painted murals, chair massages, chalk art, music, food and the opportunity to experience a stretch of streets as public space will offer the community and visitors a chance to experience active social fun in a space that can belong to people.
Area businesses and organizations are thrilled to be a part of the event adding all kinds of thrills along the route. Yoga classes, exercise class, treadmill and computrainer competitions and chair massages will be available . Community painted murals, chalk drawing, four square, bubbles, hula hoops and giant Tic Tac Toe competitions will give people a chance to get off their bikes and skates and participate in some Open Streets fun.
La Crosse Escape Room will bring out one of their retired rooms and challenge us to right out on the street.
The Cargo Bike Shop will be on hand for those of us interested in a test ride.
