Two years ago, the Wisconsin Bike Fed worked with the Brewers Community Foundation to create this ride with the goal of raising more money for local charities. When we were in the early planning stages, the Brewers Community Foundation asked if the Wisconsin Bike Fed wanted to be one of the three beneficiaries. Since we were already getting paid to help organize and run the ride, we suggested DreamBikes instead. In the last two years, Hitting 4 the Cycle, along with money from their nightly 50/50 raffle, has generated $20,000 for DreamBikes! Maybe we should have taken that offer?

Seriously, we at the Bike Fed are happy a ride we helped start has had such a positive impact for cycling. Dreambikes does excellent work providing job training and a quality bike shop in neighborhoods where there are none.  Dreambikes has expanded with stores in Milwaukee; Madison; Calumet, IL; Knoxville, TN; Rochester, NY and now at a second store in Madison.

The wild flowers along the Hank Aaron State Trail are in full glory now, a great part of the Hitting 4 the Cycle Ride.

If you have not done the ride, it is mostly on trails in the Milwaukee area. This year the 25 mile route takes riders on some of the best off-street trails the Milwaukee area has to offer, including the gorgeous prairie flowers on the Hank Aaron State Trail and the best views of Lake Michigan on the southern segments of the Oak Leaf Trail. The post-ride tailgate party has some of the best food you will find on a ride, including awesome BBQ from Smoke Shack and great donuts from Holey Moley.
