Job Posting: Share & Be Aware Media Ambassador

Share & Be Aware promotes bicycle and pedestrian safety education by educating all road users. To support the goal of educating the public on bike and ped safety, we are looking for a savvy Media Ambassador to get the word out effectively and efficiently to broadcast, digital, and print media.

The ideal candidate must enjoy people, biking, walking, working with a team and independently, and have experience with the media and writing. While focusing on safety, Ambassadors may expand their hours by working on other Bike Fed projects including membership, merchandise sales, and advocacy support with manager approval.

Details
$15/hour, Limited Term Employment
10-35 hours per week, through October
Milwaukee area location is ideal, working remotely is possible

Responsibilities

Generate earned media on a weekly basis (move to top)
Write press releases and blogs to share road safety information
Develop effective strategies for reaching key audiences, including all modes of transportation, motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians
Respond to serious and fatal bicycle and pedestrian fatalities with educational information for community
Fill in with regular Ambassador duties as needed including Schedule and teach bike and pedestrian safety classes, give presentations at business and organizations (such as Lunch ‘n Learns) and conduct safety education outreach
Work with volunteers as needed
Develop partnerships and opportunities to meet Share & Be Aware goals

Requirements
Provide own computer and internet access
Able to work out of the Milwaukee office
Great writing ability
Self starter who can prioritize successfully
Passion for walking and bicycling
Ability to learn and follow all bicycling and walking laws
Excellent speaking, writing, and presentation skills

About Jessica Wineberg, Program Director

The second staff member hired for the Milwaukee office 10 years ago, Jessica created and runs Bike Fed’s statewide Safe Routes to School Programs, Bike Camps, and adult bicyclist and motorist education programs. Jessica lives in the Riverwest neighborhood with her husband Christian and son Everett.
