‘Fire Up Your Feet’ Winners Announced!

Fernwood Montessori students rode on bike to School Day May 6th, part of their ongoing programs to promote walking and biking to school.

Thanks to everyone who joined thousands of students, families and school staff across the country in firing up your school for physical activity during the Fire Up Your Feet Spring 2015 Activity Challenge. A special congratulations goes to all of the winning schools that took home awards this spring.

  • 1st Place: Lincoln Middle School, La Crosse
  • 2nd Place: Fernwood Montessori School, Milwaukee
  • 3rd Place: Southern Bluffs Elementary School, La Crosse
  • 1st Small School: Mt. Calvary-Grace Lutheran School, La Crosse
  • 2nd Small School:  Holy Ghost-Immaculate Conception School, Kieler

The La Crosse region really brought it home this Spring! Eighteen schools across the state registered and five won some cash to help pay for bike and pedestrian supplies for safety and encouragement programs at their schools. Five winners in 18 schools are pretty good odds. Contact me to find out how your school can get involved.

Congrats to all the schools as everyone involved was a winner by helping kids with healthy activities.  Best of luck to everyone for the Fall Challenge. I would like to thank our partners in La Crosse County, and the East Central Regional Planning Commission.

Don’t forget to keep it moving this summer, when we invite you to track activity online for a chance to win even more prizes! During the summer, we’ll also provide updates about our upcoming October 1-31 2015 Fall Activity Challenge in your region.

Thanks again for staying Fired Up, and cheers to a lifetime of fitness and good health!
