Now accepting used bike donations for youth education programs

Help us pack our truck with quality used bicycles for our youth safety education programs!

We’ve mentioned it before here plenty of times, so if you follow the blog you’ve probably heard that we teach bicycle and pedestrian safety to more than 2,400 kids at over 30 sites around Milwaukee each season.  If want to help us continue the amazing work we do helping kids discover the joy of riding a bike safely, NOW is the time to clean out your garage.

Did your child outgrow his or her bike? Did you upgrade your bike? A bike was left behind at the apartment building you live in? If you have a bike that nobody rides anymore for whatever reason, please consider donating it to our Safe Routes to School and Valid Bike Shop programs.

If you have a bike you wish to donate there are a few options. Choose the most convenient for you or call me to coordinate another option.

  • Drop it off at North Division H.S. (1011 W Center St. Milwaukee, WI) directly at our Valid Shop on Thursdays from 9am-5pm. Best to call first so we know your coming and can let you in. 414- 267-5062
  • Drop if off at our Bike Fed office weekdays 9am-5pm. Calling/Emailing ahead first again is recommended since sometimes we are out of the office doing our great work out in the community and we’d hate to have you drive all this way and we aren’t home. 414-431-1798 (any extension, but preferably x110)
  • Bring it to  Cahill Park in Whitefish Bay on Saturday May 2nd from 9am -noon for the Green Day in the Bay event. You can also recycle other housewares and materials and learn about Eco friendly activities
  • Unfortunately we can not offer pick up services for many logistical reasons, but if for some reason you are not able to use any of these options above please call Jake( 414-255-0377, Jake.Newborn@wisconsinbikefed.org) to see what else may be doable to help your old bike do good again!

ALL DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE!

  1. I have a couple of reconditioned mountain bikes that I would donate but would not drive all the way to to Milwaukee.
Would it be possible to take them to the Madison Bike Fed office?
