Do you want to help make your community better? Do you want to make a difference, and get to ride your bike? The Wisconsin Bike Fed is looking for applicants for two positions, with a focus on safety and education.

Share and Be Aware Ambassadors

Share & Be Aware Ambassadors deliver bicycle and pedestrian safety education in multi-county regions through classes and outreach events. 4-9 openings exist across the entire state including all major cities and rural areas. Regions will be determined based on the locations of the most qualified applicants.

The ideal candidates must enjoy people, biking, walking, working independently, and seeking out new opportunities for safety education. While focusing on safety, Ambassadors may expand their hours by working on other Bike Fed projects including membership, merchandise sales, and advocacy support with manager approval.

Bike Walk/Safety Instructors

The Wisconsin Bike Fed is seeking Bike/Walk Safety Instructors to support Milwaukee’s Safe Routes to School program. Safe Routes to School is an innovative national movement to stop the growing trend of childhood obesity by drastically increasing the number of children who bike and walk to school. Southside Milwaukee Bike/Walk Coordinator (Bilingual)

The Southside Milwaukee Bike/Walk Coordinator-Bilingual will work on three projects to increase the safety and number of people walking and biking on Milwaukee’s Southside.

  • Share & Be Aware (50%): Conduct safety education thru classes and outreach to educate all road users to increase the safety of walking and biking.
  • Open Streets (25%): Assist in the planning and conduct community outreach and promotion for 2-3 Ciclovia style events.
  • Biking for Health Study (25%): Conduct a 12 week bicycling intervention with 10-25 overweight inactive adults that includes education, rides, and personal coaching to help biking become a habit for them.

The ideal candidate must enjoy people, biking, walking, event planning, encouragement, promotion, working independently, and seeking out new partnerships to increase walking and biking

The second staff member hired for the Milwaukee office 10 years ago, Jessica created and runs Bike Fed’s statewide Safe Routes to School Programs, Bike Camps, and adult bicyclist and motorist education programs. Jessica lives in the Riverwest neighborhood with her husband Christian and son Everett.

  1. I would like to be on the staff of the Bike Federation, however do I need a college degree?
    My work history is Customer Service and if that would count?

    College degrees are not required for these positions. Please take a look at the job descriptions and see if these education jobs might be right for you.
