Milwaukee County Zoo offers a wild ride

A young rider prepares to tour the Milwaukee County Zoo on two wheels.

The Milwaukee County Zoo will host a wild ride for adults, children and families looking to explore the zoo and its creatures on two wheels Sunday morning.

The Ride on the Wild Side event helps raise thousands of dollars for the Zoological Society of Milwaukee every year, and offers a unique opportunity to pedal the winding paths in the county zoo and the nearby Menomonee River Parkway and Oak Leaf Trail. Routes include distances of 2.5 miles for the children’s Critter Caravan and 10, 17 or 27 miles for the more adventurous. All rides start at the zoo, 10001 W. Blue Mound Rd., Milwaukee, at 8 a.m. and 8:15.

Registration opens Sunday morning at 7, and the $45 price for adults includes zoo entry, long-sleeved t-shirt, breakfast, lunch and parking.
